Terms
Terms of service
Plain-English terms for booking and attending appointments with the practice. By booking an appointment you agree to them.
Last updated 8 September 2026. This page is a template prepared for the practice and is to be reviewed by the practice manager before launch.
1. The practice
Dermatox Ltd provides private general practice services. Our doctors are registered with the General Medical Council and practise in accordance with its guidance. We are independent of the NHS; using our services does not affect your NHS registration.
2. Booking
- Appointments can be booked online, by phone or in person. An online booking is a request until the practice confirms it by email.
- You must give accurate details, including a phone number and email address we can reach you on, and tell us about any medicines, allergies or conditions relevant to your care.
- Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. We may ask for identification.
3. Fees and payment
- Fees are published on our pricing page and quoted before any service not listed there is provided. The fee shown when you book is the fee you pay.
- Payment is due at the time of the appointment. We accept card and cash; nothing is charged online when you book.
- Laboratory tests, vaccines, medicines dispensed by a pharmacy and third-party services (such as specialist consultations or imaging) are charged separately by us or by the provider.
- We provide itemised invoices. Where you claim from an insurer, the contract is between you and us and you remain responsible for payment.
4. Cancellations and missed appointments
You may cancel or move an appointment free of charge with at least 24 hours’ notice. With less notice, or if you do not attend, we may charge the full appointment fee. If we have to cancel, we will offer another time or a full refund of anything paid in advance.
5. Clinical care
- Our doctors will act in your best interests and explain their advice. Any decision to prescribe, test or refer is a clinical decision and cannot be guaranteed in advance.
- Prescriptions are private prescriptions; the pharmacy charges for the medicine. We do not prescribe controlled drugs privately.
- Our service is not an emergency service. In an emergency call 999.
- With your consent we send a summary of your care to your NHS GP.
6. Records and privacy
We keep records of your care as required by law and professional guidance and handle them as described in our privacy notice.
7. Behaviour
We treat patients with respect and ask the same in return. We may decline to provide care to anyone who is abusive or threatening to staff or other patients.
8. Complaints
If something goes wrong, tell us. Our complaints procedure explains how we handle concerns and who else you can contact.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited by law. Our doctors hold professional indemnity cover.
10. Changes and law
We may update these terms; the version in force is the one published when you book. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
